No seriously there's something so charming in maps made by amateurs (and i mean no offense here) without some great overdesigned mansions and shit, and the fact that every chest is filled with items and there is no set formula in the whole thing (skyscrapers next to castles) just adds onto the charm.

Thank you, and no offence taken! I usually just build whatever comes to mind, often without a larger set plan. I like to create a realistic world where one could imagine people living in it, which is why buildings have interiors and chests have items.
Also yes, I used MCEdit for a lot of areas and after uploading it here it does look really obvious XD but a lot of older buildings are made entirely by hand.
