I really don't know, how long it took you before you left, just because you saw some garbage looking rectangle houses (though I won't blame you for that, because they are looking ugly - I am NOT stating that they look great. As I said, we have a very novice building player, very young, and we always try to make him do better ... but we will NEVER force that on him, because everyone should enjoy MC his or her way).

You might check on the newer maps, if you like. Since your commenting on a map that is almost a year old, and hasn't been touched since than. Maybe you find something more appealing to you.

I don't really get your post. Can you specify a bit more? I can't remember - for example - that my tree house is in any way square (did you even find it?).
If you mean these plain bunker like rectangles, than you were probably looking at a building of our youngest player, who just joined up on this server. And I wouldn't blame someone, who is young, and barely starting building in SMP, instead of just fighting monsters or PVP.
Third:
Since we moved on to other worlds, we're not 'mixing up' anything in the near future to update and improve this map.
